I made spareribs for the guys tonight.
They also have peppers & onions and basmati rice.
Roasted asparagus is for anyone who wants.
I will fry up plantains when everyone is home.
I made a carrot and ginger soup for all.
Salad with a carrot dressing is for anyone who will eat it
The gals have broiled glazed salmon with black rice and carrots with a glaze copying my favorite dish from Sushi Metsuyan.
Starting to see a theme here?

I am so uninspired for Shavous. I can't get my head into it.

Thinking of doing a taco bar for lunches.

I really don’t feel like cooking. Wasn’t it just Pesach like 2 minutes ago?

squishy, you're master chef! Can't be you're not into cooking!
When you do your gourmet cooking for dinner, can't/don't you make double & put away some for yom tov?

seems like your theme tonight is carrots & rice lol. Japanese?

Seriously, I still have no menu. I don't even have a shopping list. DH said he will shop Friday.

I couldn't have told you this morning what I would make for supper later today. I was out of brown jasmine, so I used black rice. I had a bunch of carrots which I ate raw while figuring out what to cook today; hence, all the carrots. I had fresh salmon and a request for no chicken tonight.

Shabbos is shabbos. I love cooking fresh, but it's frustrating with Shavous right after Shabbos.

I am still clueless.

Thank you! I first checked out this thread and a few others, but mostly this one for ideas. I have salads, dips, and desserts separately because I don't know what when and it also depends if we have company or not.

Salads- cole slaw, broccoli, cucumber, corn, fennel, purple cabbage, and beet salad.
Dips- pesto, roasted pepper, sun-dried tomato, techina, garlic, and jalapeno dip.
Desserts- kokush or rugelach, chocolate cookies, peanut butter pie, blondies, cheesecake, and store bought ice cream.
I'm adding shabbos party just in case I lose my list, I have written here too Wink .

Friday night- chicken (I usually decide what kind when I'm ready to make it), and potato kugel (my dd is coming home, yay, and she likes to make it, but if not, maybe zucchini kugel) (I haven't served fish or soup in years because then nobody eats anything else. This is enough food)
Shabbos lunch- eggs, chulent, and liver if my dh brings some home.
Motzei shabbos- salmon (same as chicken above), mashed garlic spinach (is it possible? sweet) potatoes.
Sunday lunch- some sort of meat or a barbecue. Knowing my dh, probably a barbecue and that means lots of different types of meat. Asparagus maybe and either grilled or roasted and maybe carrot fries.
Sunday night- meatballs, pasta, and sauteed cabbage,
Monday lunch- ricotta roll ups, 3 different ones, lasagna, eggplant, and zucchini, and a lettuce salad.

Anyone else already so full thinking of all the food??

Dear yo’ma,

How do you make ricotta roll-ups?

Make sure not to lose what you type up this time!

I don't have it all planned out yet (well, I expect Shabbos I'll just be doing my usual Shabbos menu) but here are the family Shavuos faves that will definitely show up among the YT meals.

Penne with roasted red pepper cream sauce (found in Leah Shapuro's Fresh and Easy cookbook)

Zucchini ravioli-- peel zucchini into wide ribbons and wrap each ribbon around ricotta cheese filling. Bake with marinara sauce and shredded cheese.

Goat cheese and fig salad-- arugula, red onion, and fresh figs with goat cheese medallions (slice log of goat cheese, dip each round in egg followed by breadcrumbs, or ground almonds if you want to cut carbs. Fry for about three minutes total, you want it to get soft but not melt too much) toss with a dressing made of olive oil, white whine, and fig jam, salt and pepper to taste

I always make a standard plain cheesecake with a simple chocolate ganache on top and it's so good (seriously, gananche is super easy, you heat some heavy cream, then toss some chocolate chunks into the still hot cream and let it sit for a minutes, then stir up).

You sound like a sophisticated cook.

What is the recipe for the roasted red pepper sauce?

Thanks.

Sauté onion in olive oil until browned, add a few chopped garlic cloves.
Chop one large overripe tomato small and add to pot.
Chop 1/2 red pepper into small pieces and add to pot
Add fresh parsley
Let summer on low
Add carrots sliced
Rest of pepper sliced long strips
Yukon Potato sliced thin
Paprika garlic salt pepper cayenne powder basil
Squeeze 1/2 fresh lemon
Jalapeño (I put one) chopped small
8 oz tomato sauce
Cook low 40 mins.

Add salmon slices, sprinkle spices on top. Cook another 20 minutes.

I’ll make the steaks before. Sauté onions and garlic. Rub Montreal steak seasoning. Sear meat 2 minutes each side. Add fresh parsley, 1/2 cup red wine. Cook low 3 hours or until meat very soft.

Just posted my salmon.

Tilapia really easy-

Sear 2 minutes each side in olive oil. Brown crushed garlic.

Lay in baking tray. Pour garlic over tilapias. Drizzle generous amount of silan. Bake 300 15-20 minutes. Don’t over bake!!

I'm only making one meal.

We're having fiesta salad, salmon with broccoli and parmesan sauce, stuffed shells, and garlic basil mashed potatoes. Dessert is fried Oreos. Yummy! Smile
