So far whoever I spoke to that tested is not immune. Besides for the older generation that got the measles is anyone still immune.

Should I just get the shot? I hate blood work.
Do you know anyone that is over 40 and immune ?

Oh and thanks again anti vaxers!

My sister (born in the US in '65) had her titers tested and she is still immune.
Good thing too, cause she is a teacher and comes into contact with lots of people and it's not easy to get the vaccine now in Israel unless you've actually been exposed.

Every single person I know IRL who tested titers has been immune except for one person born in the late 80s.

My mother's doctor says that 30% are showing up as not immune, certainly not everyone.

I had a very forward thinking OB who tested my titers 25+ years ago and I wasn't immune so I got another shot. I got my first shot in those earlier years when a lot of batches weren't good.

However, was it that I needed a booster, because I only got one, or that I got from one of those ineffective batches? Since it was so long ago, and a lot of our local measles cases were middle-aged people, it was simpler to just get another shot rather than got my titers tested again.

Great. Now I have to get tested.
Yknow what's going happen. In another few years these anti vaxers will get older and most of them will not be immune. When it will hit them, cause complications in pregnancies,or prevent them from going to their own child's wedding or other simcha they will get the shot.

My own weird theory.

Att non vaxers
Remember shabboss, when we all stood around yakking? No one said a word about vacs. ,because we are the better ones. You cry and pity yourself when we kept quiet because we are the bigger person.

But know this. When we see you so sweet and kind it means nothing. We think of you as dumb, selfish and mean.
We are just being extra kind to you. So stop complaining in public and here on imamother.
Every word that gets written here is what we would like to tell you in person.

dh is 55. was vaccinated as a child. titers show that he is immune.
my titers show immunity to measles and rubella but not to mumps, so I got vaccinated.
when I was pregnant with my first child over 20 years ago, titers showed no immunity to rubella so I got that vaccine after the birth.

Never had measels
Had my titers checked this past December
Test showed I still had immunity
No need for another shot
Know for a 100% fact that I was directly exposed to measels this past winter.

I'm 36, up to date on all vaccines.

Got myself tested. Had immunity to measles, but not mumps, so had to get my MMR booster.

I also wanted to just take the shot again and not bother with the blood test, but my dr told me insurance will probably not pay for my vaccine unless they see a titers test that shows I need a shot...so I had to get a titers n bh im immune...im not over 40....but my mom is (obviously) and I explained to her that she shoukd get titers test to see if shes immune but even though she believes in vaccines, she doesnt realize that she may not be immune so she keeps putting this off....I cant force her shes an adult but she works with kids and is forced to take a flu shot which she does, so I wonder if theyll ask her to take a titers test??? But so far, they have not...

DH (46) and I (42) were both recently tested and titers did NOT show immunity, even though we got all recommended vaccinations in childhood (USA). Went out and got the booster shots ASAP!!!
