Does anyone know the lyrics to the song “Dovid Hamelech?” I remember singing it after lunch in bybp. Probably about 20 years ago, maybe more. I don’t remember which grade. I think it starts like this:
In the king’s palace not one single sound is heard
Just the wind blowing the violin strings
This then arouses the king in the midst of sleep
He quickly awakens and then starts to sing

Sorry I can’t help but I’m sure that Mrs. Rothman can.
Email bybp and ask them to forward your request to her.

The whole world then stops, still, all of creation
Awed from their hearing a sound that's so grand
Dovid Hamelech is singing the shira
That even malachim can't understand
Chorus: Sefer tehillim, from a shepherd so royal
So caring and loyal, who showed us the way
His work of perfection, a means of connection
Whenever we need them, the right words to say
There's another stanza here about tehillim in times of tzaros, but I only remember snatches of it:
nebach a tzara, he needs a refuah
a child needs a shidduch
He runs to a shul where tehillim is said
Chorus: Sefer tehillim, how are you bearing
All that you're hearing, so many tears
Hearts that are breaking, so bitterly aching
All you've been taking, for thousands of years
Chorus: Dovid, Dovid, at the kisei hakavod
Ask that this golus soon come to an end
May Hashem soon restore
Your kingdom once more
Es sukkas Dovid Hanofales
Chorus: Dovid, Dovid, melech yisrael,
Reach for your violin...
Play us your song

Thank you! I heard the tune recently and it was so frustrating to only remember some of the words. It brings back such memories...

Yes that is the original tune. I love when my family sings it with harmony.

Bumping this thread.
Someone posted lots of the lyrics but some seem to be missing.
Anyone have all the lyrics?
