Photo book - tech challenged newbie

I went to a simcha yesterday, and they had no photographer. I have some great and not so great pictures on my phone.

I would like to put them together in a book as a surprise. Please tell me approximate costs because I am leaning towards getting two more for the parents.

1. Should it be a surprise? It's easier for me if it is a surprise.

2. I am tech challenged. Is this something I can do on my phone? I have great pictures I took on the ladies side and great pictures DH took of the ceremony.

3. What programs do this? And what is the cost?

4. The pictures DH sent me are in WhatsApp. Some are on my phone. Is this a problem? I would like to crop some of them. Is there a free program that can make pictures more flattering?
