Very sad for those children who don't fit the narrow definition for the medical exemption or can't get a doctor who is willing even when it does fit....happens to the best of us when you know something and your doctor disagrees, even if he has an MD, and you have to look for another one or suffer until science catches up or you figure it yourself online or in yehupetz.

It's great news for this particular instance. However, it's a dangerous precedence. If they can take away religious freedom* in this case, what would stop them from banning other religious practices "for the greater good"? Bris Milah, Shechita, where does it end?

*I know this is not a religious issue, as far as Judaism is concerned, but it is for others.

My daughter works in a preschool in bp. A very anti vax family sent in immunity papers for the child to come back to school. My daughter told me she doesnt think its real. Soon after the child came down with the measles

Nevertheless, I disagree with this move. The state should not be forcing people to do things that are genuinely opposed to their religion, including vaccination. Its a tough line to draw, of course.

I think forcing parents to vaccinate is an infringement on personal freedom to begin with.
And it wasn't the anti Vax who caused this. It was everyone else who bully them mercilessly so they are forced to defend themselves publicly.

I hate that they call it " religious" exemptions.
Call it whatever you want but leave religion out of it!! I wish they would ban that expression!
It gives a bad name to our religion and most anti- vaxxer certainly are against regardless of what religion they follow!!! Banging head
