What matters is that the vaccines against highly contagious diseases protect the public.
It doesn't matter if people are sincere in their beliefs. It is important that wherever we are able to prevent illness that could result e disability or death, then we should. Because it's established in society that these diseases are preventable, the public trusts their judicial system to protect the public through laws.

I agree that there is no excuse to refuse to vaccinate, especially during an outbreak, without extremely good reason (actual health issues which contraindicate vaccination). I do, however, understand the reluctance of those who believe that vaccinations are harmful - even though I disagree with them.

There are always 2 sides to every issue - even if the sides are right and wrong! Very Happy

In some Muslim countries, children are catching polio due to the mistaken believe that the polio vaccine causes sterility and measles because of a component that may have come from a pig.
Health authorities are trying to work with religious leaders to gain support and compliance.
It is truly sad, however, when the parents pay tragic price for bad decisions. I hope that we don't hear years from now from people, who exposed their kids to measles, that they saw severe repercussions down the line.

Exactly! We can put our shoes on the wrong feet and wear our clothes backwards and inside out to show how we feel about their opinions Very Happy
