no! I don't have 10 hugs yet so you'll have to keep guessing
To be honest, I thought I made it too obvious ...especially number 2. Which bridge is perpetually "for sale".

It's a city and I live in the heart of it. City, more like Manhattan. Yep about the homeless. Very sad. On my block, two people "live". On a main street around the corner from me, I've noticed mattresses and stuff on top of a bus stop gazebo during the day. They take it down at night.

Youre right:
A tree grows in... but note the word “A” because there aint more than that
I already sold the bridge so its not for sale
And yeah- I’m a hipster too - and theyre growing bigger each day...

That's what I intended when I wrote a tree grows there- not much more than that Betty Smith one tree
Oh, so you're the one who sold the bridge? The buyer contacted me and is selling it for a one time amazing price!
You're right about my hometown and current location

salt wrote: | Hey you got 10 hugs, please explain which city (yishuv?) you live in. I'm confused, cos the blessings and curses were Shechem - I assume you don't live there. Maybe Elon Moreh, close by, but what has that got to do with Gidon - wasn't he from Ofra? Although maybe he had some battle in Shechem.
But how can you live in Shechem?
And what on earth has shehakol neheyeh bidvaro got to do with the price of cheese??! |
1.So, Itamar is located right next to Shechem.
2. Gidon is buried here, overlooking the valley. (Elazar, Itamar, Yosef, many of the 70 zekeinim, and other notables are buried just down the hill in Awarta. That's how the people of Itamar chose its name.)
3. Shehakol nehiyeh Bedvaro - bear with me here...
Obviously, the way most people in the world know of Itamar is because there have been many horrific terror attacks here. That era is past, and I didn't want to use it as a reference point, since the town I live in is very sweet and pleasant. But there is one famous story from that era which really does define Itamar.
Some background: Eliyahu Asheri, the son of the yishuv mikvah lady, was abducted 13 years ago around this time. He was tortured, and then murdered, in Ramallah. Shabak caught the perpetrators, and during their interrogations, they told them how he died. Before the terrorists shot him in the head, these "educated, refined men" offered Eliyahu a final request. He asked for a cup of water, and on his knees, he lifted his eyes to heaven, and he said the beracha "Shehakol nehiyeh bidvaro" - "Blessed are you, G-d, our L-rd, King of existence, that everything is in accordance with His Word." He drank, and they shot him.
Shehakol nehiyeh Bedvaro. Three powerful words, which express total Emunah. At the sum of his life, that was what Eliyahu wanted to say, and I think that story defines the people of Itamar, in general.
