How early do I need to leave?
I can't just leave first thing in the morning because I work upstate. I told them I'm leaving early but not sure when?

If you leave after 12/1 you can expect terrible traffic getting worse as time goes by.
On fridays, it can take from Monsey to Brooklyn over 3 hours.

The rule of thumb I heard many years ago was to get to the Lincoln Tunnel no later than 2 PM, but over time, traffic has only gotten worse. If you're there by 2, you should make it to your destination before Shabbos, but it may not be pleasant. We try to leave by noon to have an easier ride and arrive in better spirits.

Traffic is heavy both ways on Friday. There's no opposite way of traffic.
