I bought a gc to a high end layette store for someone that just had a baby and we figured the gift is gonna serve as a token of appreciation for help we had from this couple. I thought I'd write a nice card but maybe a poem seems more impressive. I'm not a poet, but this is what I came up with and any suggestions for change and how to continue would be greatly appreciated!!
Dear -----
Mazel Tov Mazel Tov we'd like to say,
We wish you the best in every way
We take now the opportunity to present you with a gift

A heartfelt note is much more impressive than a poem. Really. Tell them how grateful you are and wish them mazel tov on the baby.

Maybe make a corny jokes about the gift then add the words "if you get my drift"

Like if it's a set of baby bottles

This might be for baby but Don't forget yours if you catch my drift

include specs of how they were always there for you & how they helped you like thanking them for the meals or helping hand etc, that they should see its coming from the heart not just a generic poem.

Thanks all! Dankbar, I like the wording! If I have a way to continue it after, I'll use your words. I don't want to make a corny joke out of it, because it would make the situation somewhat sticky....and if I can't figure out how to continue, I'll just to what amother said... because it's the actual words that count and not whether rhymes or not... just wanted to try my luck with a poem...
