I googled the question but it they are two different viruses, what is the difference between the two?

ETA, they are both parvovirus but the rash is different. The DOH lady said that they are the same.

Hand foot and mouth is an enterovirus, not a parvovirus. Maybe you're talking about something else?

My pediatrician told me that rash is last symptom. Starts with fever and cough and the. Rash on hands and face. If doesn’t meet all criteria then not measles. Could be coxsackie. Unfortunately I have lots of experience with this dreaded virus

Totally separate viruses.

Hand foot mouth= usually caused by Coxsackie virus (a type of enterovirus). Rash looks like blisters on hand/foot/in and around mouth/ can be on other areas as well. (Side point that other viruses can cause hand foot mouth syndrome, the culprit is not always coxsackie)

vs

Fifth's disease= Parvovirus b19. Also called Slapped Cheek disease. Rash looks like slapped red cheeks with lacy body rash. Can be dangerous for pregnant women. However, once slapped cheek appears, child is usually not contagious anymore...
