I just purchased tights and the minute I began to put them on, they tore. Would you return them to a frum store? TIA.

No. I return them to the manufacturer with a copy of the receipt of purchase.

1. I had the store put in seems so that wouldn't work.
2. Doesn't the store just get reimbursed from the manufacturer anyways?

I’m not sure. I guess you can ask the store. Usually the packaging has a return address and I reach out and let the company know that the tights tore on the first wear and I have received a brand new pair in return, free of charge. I’m not sure if every brand would do this. If the store made the seams maybe they caused the tear , so check with them. But don’t be surprised if they don’t reimburse you.

It's a huge issue since most stores won't replace it for you. But it's worth a shot to go back in with your receipt as skin as possible. Maybe you'll have luck.

Regarding 2. No stores do not always get reimbursement from the manufacturer .. depends on the product and the relationship plus what the terms and agreements are.

If the frum store had a return policy covering the tights, sure of course.

Maybe I am very naive and clueless
Why didn't you just buy Palm

Getting regular tights and adding seams is just creating fixation-ware

However to be fair , everything I know about this I learned on ImaMother

Helping your education lol: Because Palm is 60, 80 or greater Denier and I wear 20-30 denier. Because I prefer a color different than Palm. Because almost everyone who wears seams has them sewn on.

I never knew that 20-30 denier could have a seam, it doesn't tear?

No, it does not. The tights that tore this morning tore nowhere near the seam. 20-30 denier is still opague-ish. 5 denier would tear.

Interesting ImaMother autocorrected f*e*t*I*s*h to fixation

I was always told / read that the Satmar Rov wanted seams because that was the siman it was thick enough
Putting seams on 20 denier defeats the whole purpose
No ???

No. Not only satmar people wear seams. It's so you should be able to recognize that it is tights. My 20-30 denier tights are opague, seriously. You cannot eat mosquito bites, etc.

I've honestly never heard of such a thing.

No, I don't think its fair to try to return them to the manufacturer after they've been handled and altered that way. Even if the tear isn't near the alteration, sewing has to affect the hose.

Maybe the place you purchased them might be willing to replace them.

FTR, there are plenty of companies that make seamed hosiery. Eg https://us.calzedonia.com/prod.....2.uts

I wear these too. They're not opaque. And they tear pretty easily as is. I can imagine that adding the seams weakens the weave even more.

Oh I tried those once and they tore as I put them on for the first time .

I wear MeMoi which is cheaper and doesn’t tear as easily.

Maybe it depends on the person's leg thickness or shape because you cannot see a mosquito bite (keep in mind beige always looks more opague). I buy them twice a year for the past 5 years and have only had tears 3 times so not sure why you haven't experienced that.

MeMoi does not fit my leg - they are too wide - but they are prettier than levante.
