Baby blue,
Also want to add, it may be worth it to allow the transfer from the hospital to the rehab facility, and then facilitate a discharge to home from there, even two days later. As long as the facility knows the family is trained to care for her (physically) it won't be AMA. And they will kick her out as soon as her insurance runs out, so your parents can ask insurance to cut off her stay. Just thinking of some workarounds to get out of the hair of this hospital

No dont. I sometimes google my symptoms. Google says I should be dead by now. Or do google if you want to scare yourself.

Lyme disease itself is not controversial. Some of the issues atteibuted to Lyme are and some people believe you need less markers than the CDC mandates. So this means some people pursue a diagnosis of Lyme instead of treating another medically recognized problem, but that does not mean this poster is doing that.

Is that what she meant? I wasn’t sure what her question was
My parents wanted to rule out ANY POSSIBLE cause. She was seen by various specialists and they found these plus a parasite in her which also contributed to the situation
She had a tick bite. And a rash. When symptoms suddenly appear afterwards you suspect Lyme disease.
I’m not interested in saying more since I’m sure some will bash and criticize etc.
my point is-3 DOCTORS with medical degrees got her 3 different diagnoses. They have a plan of treatment and want to start. This hospital is preventing that and threatening action. That means we have to take legal steps

The cdc never said Lyme disease isn’t real. And what does the cdc have to do with your siblings case? Have they had their other doctors call the doctors that are treating your sibling now and send over their reports?

Yes the doctors tried being in touch. The hospital isn’t budging

This is bad advice. It is sometimes more difficult to deal with rehabs. A medical coordinator or advocate may be the best way for her to deal with it.

Haha I never google unless I already have a diagnosis from a dr.
They are Bh getting advocates to intervene. And they have a strong case so hashem will help!!

ETA-a lawyer took on the case and already got the ball rolling Bh.
now that they already got cps involved we can only pray for hashems protection and mercy.

It may be advice that you disagree with, but it is rude to state "this is bad advice."

As a health care professional with experience in many different rehabs, both pediatric and adult, this is valid advice. This is coming from knowing how things work on the inside, and knowing the system and how it works.

I had CPS called on us from my special needs child social worker. Her fabricated aligations were a lot worse than what your describing.
Thankfully CPS did an excellent job investigating, within a short time they vinidcated any problems in our home, assured us that they are sure (the forensic investigator) our child was never hurt by us or any other adult and they actually turned the tables and disciplined the social worker for incompetence and neglect of protocols. Social workers are immune to being prosecuted for false claims if they can show sincerety that they were concerned, so her license wasnt revoked. But I hope she learned her lesson not to go digging ans jump to conclusions over basically nothing much said, oh, and to consider the childs mental.deficits in expression.
Anyhow, BH that story is way over and we are passed it
But it was frightening to be falsely accused because I heard horror stories how cps can drive families crazy for months before deciding its all fine.
Our case was settled in a day. And case was closed within the earliest timeframe permitted.

So thats my experience with CPS

I had a CPS case 6 years ago. It was bh a straightforward case and we emerged none the worse for the wear. It however left me traumatized for life, questioning my own parenting, and hypervigilant. I panic if my child falls or gets hurt. I panic when one of them doesnt feel well. I'm always terrified of being labeled a neglectful parent if I dont run to the doctor the second something happens. My son broke his arm a few months ago, and my husband didn't feel well so I had to be the one to take him to the hospital. I was literally panicking and hyperventilating over the thought of dealing with a hospital, because of the previous CPS case, which has left me feeling vulnerable and paranoid. Just reading the words CPS triggers PTSD in me. Since the case 6 years ago I have made some changes which are pretty absurd (such as never having a percolator in the house, only boiling up water when needed). It has left me quite traumatized. And it wasn't even such a major case.
Just having your parenting questioned and made to feel like a piece of trash, when you did nothing wrong, and an accident happened under your watch (or not even under your watch, under a babysitter's watch...) is enough to leave lasting repercussions. IT IS NOT FUN.

I’m wondering why pediatrician warned me that ED will call CPS , if people are saying this happens . You mentioned that skull fractures are an injury class that warrants a report. So I’m wondering if pediatrician meant that in case that it’s a skull fracture cps will be called?

In the meantime , I got back from ER Tuesday morning . I haven’t been contacted by CPS as of yet.

Any idea when I can know that I’m out of the woods ? At what point can I assume that they aren’t coming since enough time has passed?

They usually show up within 24 hours of the complaint being filed.
So you should be out of the woods Bez"h.

I had an experience with CPS because a child of mine who is it risk insisted on seeing a non-Jewish therapist. The sessions very quickly turned into "how and why you should leave the frum community" with no actual therapy being done so I dropped the therapist.

She went and called CPS claiming that I am "stifling" the child. Whatever than means. They actually refused to tell me what the charges were. My husband kept asking "changing therapists is a reason for CPS to do an investigation?" and "tell me exactly what are the charges that you are investigating?" but they kept evading the questions.

In the end nothing happened (I hope, I'm still within the year time frame that they can come back) but it was very traumatic at the time. Particularly the first meeting when caught completely off guard I had some very tough, threatening and obnoxious women barging into my house telling me she is here to investigate me.

She also made a few mildly anti Semitic comments although based on her name she must have been a secular Jewish women herself.

B'H, B'H it actually backfired on the original therapist because afterwards the at risk child no longer wanted to see a non frum therapist and no longer believed that she was proselytized to out of concern for her best interest. CPS managed to traumatize her too.

Unfortunately many parents who are abusive do get to keep their kids in the home. So if you are a basically normal parent all this hysteria is a little overblown.

Hi just saw your post. Thank you for asking about her
Bh cps didn’t see a case. Sister is out after a big battle with hospital who kept sending cps even though cps repeatedly stated they saw no reason to open a case. They r even helping to get difficult-to-obtain services covered which is a big help Bh.
Bh she started intensive antibiotics
Thank u all for the interest and advice

BH and Refuah shleima, may Hashem guide your family to the right practitioners and treatment. Thanks for updating!
