My 2 yo is fussy, no appetite, and keeps touching his knee. What can it be? Strep?
No fever.
This started today; I noticed it this afternoon.

No, he's not. He's just 2. He repeats things and says things by sight, but doesn't answer questions and can't (or won't) tell me what is bothering him.

Hmm. If he does it for 24 hours I would take him to dr. Strep is rare under 2 but maybe he has an infection brewing in the knee. Certainly check it out.

If he understand the word "ouchie" or booboo try pointing at diff areas and saying that word... If he can communicate anything that would be a huge help.

Is he moving normally? Walking, etc? He may have hurt himself. When my 18 month old started crying whenever I picked him up by the torso, my dr sent us for x rays.

I tried... he won't answer the question. When I ask if his tummy or knee or keppy hurts, he answers yes to all.
I have him Tylenol and put him to bed; he went to sleep nicely. If he keeps this up tomorrow I'll take him in to the dr. I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas because this seems odd.

My kids always complained of knee pain behind their knees when they had strep.

Also, one of my kids had all these symptoms plus knee swelling (which got worse with each day) and he wasn’t able to walk properly . He ended up having Lyme Disease. But he was 7 and able to say he didn’t feel well and was in pain.

Go to the doctor tomorrow to rule anything out.

Maybe he is feeling achy by the joints, which can happen right before running fever.

Not all mothers are clueless. There’s nothing wrong with her asking. She’s not asking instead of doc.

Sheesh.

This. Or strep. I’ve had knee/foot pain many times which resulted in strep so I’d def chk it out.

I would totally have posted this. She said she's going to dr tomorrow, and it doesn't sound urgent.

Now if she posted my child temperature is 102 and he's not responding and he won't stop sleeping, and also he hasn't eaten or drank anything all day, should I go to dr tomorrow, then yea.

I agree with getting him checked out before shabbos if he's still irritable tomorrow and showing signs of pain in his knee. One of my kids used to have an inflammatory response in her knee after getting a cold when she was a toddler. Another one of my kids actually got cellulitis near a joint and didn't show any symptoms besides guarding that leg. My older ones sometimes get leg pain with strep. So there's really so many things it could be, and the doctor should check it out because some are mild and others are not.

Update: he just threw up, poor child. Maybe a virus?

(If his symptoms are still here tomorrow ill take him to the doctor; I am hoping and davening they'll go away sooner than they came.)

Throwing up can also be a sign of strep. My kids throw up when they have strep too.

Do you see anything on his knee? Is it warm to the touch? Many times when a child has a virus or fever, the bones become achy. Pain in the leg can also mean strept. I would check it out before shabbos just to be on the safe side.

Joint pain can also be a symptom of Lyme disease.
