Seashell, agree those dates that came about from shidduch meetings were the absolute worst. Every single one of them ended up being with a guy who was either rude, nasty, or extremely socially awkward to the extent that it was torturous to sit through the date. The worst for me was a guy who was probably 10 years older than I had been told, clearly angry that his mother had "forced" him out on a date, would barely talk to me and when he did was just to belittle me. It was SO uncomfortable. Another disaster was a guy who wasn't rude, per say, but gave off very strong gay vibes (among other issues). My theory is that desperate mothers flood these meetings with resumes of their sons, who really aren't marriage material though on paper, they seem ok. It's possible there are a few normal guys being presented there, but I think that must be the rare exception.
