My oven just broke and I need to replace it.
I haven’t bought an oven in 25 years so I need advice as to what to get.
It must be self clean and I need to be able to use the oven on Yom Tov.
Free standing or slide in.
Any recommendations ?
I haven’t shopped for one in so long they all changed so much.
Also I don’t have much to spend so can’t use an expensive one.
I live in NY if it makes a difference.
TIA

Ask them how the Shabbos mode works. My oven has Shabbos mode, and I rail against the chinese guys every week. I have to press the setting down for every minute I want my oven to be on. Like if I want it to go off in 3 hours, that's 180 presses of the button.

My previous oven had a separate hour and minute setting, so 3 hours would be 3 presses of the button.

Spare yourself by inquiring about this....

I'm not 100% sure about this, but I think that Star K has a lot of info about Shabbos mode on different ovens. When I bought my oven 10 yrs ago from a Jewish-owned store, the salesman told me it has no Shabbos mode. But then my sister showed me that she has the same oven and it does have a Shabbos mode! So the stores are not always so knowledgeable... maybe a kashrus agency would know more..

I shop at Town Appliamce in Lakewood. I have bought all large appliances there for 30 years. They deliver to me in BP. I tell them the size where the appliance needs to fit, my price range and shabbos needs. They are great. If anything broke years down the road, they were able to provide me with model numbers etc. from their computer records. I cannot blame them for my lousy dishwasher which I bought as the cheapest model they had against their advice.

My Jennair has a Shabbos Mode and I am very happy with it. Slide in or free standing depends on your countertop.

I have fridgidaire stoves. They have Shabbos mode and a warning drawer.
I like how slide in looks better (dying for new oven) but it really depends on the style of ur kitchen. If there is no difference get the cheaper one.
