If the principal wasn't involved with finances, then who was, all these years (besides the last few)?

People on the outside of the Kollel system looking in have been saying for years that it's not a sustainable system and it's going to collapse upon itself. Schools shutting down because not enough fathers are working and bringing in enough money to support their families, which includes education, is only the tip of the iceberg. The system needs a major overhaul, and every unfortunate family that's affected by this should seriously consider if staying in Lakewood/this system makes sense for them.

Obviously, this is an over generalization and every family has their own story, but overall this kind of thing isn't a surprise when huge masses of people live in one area and have a very low income rate and high birthrate due to ideological reasons.

How is Williamsburg with low incomes and large families any different?

Upthread someone says a Williamsburg school did close recently, but its unusual.

I think maybe the difference is that every Chassidus supports their Mosdos?

Exactly. That one school, did not have a kehilla backing it, it was just a private thing, so they had no one to bail them out!
Usually a cheder or school are part of a kehilla. So the are either gvirim from the kehilla backing it, or they can run annual dinners / chinese auctions to benefit the kehilla or the school / cheder.
if it's just a private enterprise, there's no financial backing when tuition isnt enough.

That article on greaterlakewood.com now has this...

GL confirmed via MULTIPLE SOURCES, the VAAD wanted Ateres Tzipora closed. Mr X caved to pressure from the VAAD. But they are the ones behind the drama. #SAD
