I live in Brooklyn. My DC needed to see a specialist in Manhattan. The secretary at the pediatrician's office said she can arrange transportation. I called her a few days in advance. She said no problem. The day of the appointment she sends me an uber. I call her to thank her and ask about the way home. It kind of slipped out that she thought I had Medicaid, that's why she said she would arrange transportation. And since it's her mistake, she was paying for the ride herself.

Of course the way home I took a train...

Now I don't know what to do. Do I pay her for the trip? When I spoke to her from the car she said no way was I to pay her, she has a discount for uber.... But it's a probably around $50-60 .

Wow!! That is super duper nice of her! I would compensate her. I think id just feel to guilty to let a secretary take that type of hit...

I would give her the money. When you have Medicaid, they arrange transportation for you. Otherwise, it's on you.

It was her mistake. You would have taken a train both ways. I doubt she is paying personally. The office is likely absorbing the cost.

If you can afford t definitely give her the money. Leave it in an envelope for her.

If you really can’t then at the very least accept it graciously and send a thank you card. Maybe also mention it to her superior so she gets recognition for the responsibility she took when she made a mistake (unless you think it might be held against her in some twisted way).
