Be careful if you use these, I had to throw out 2 full dozen brown eggs because nearly each one had tiny blood spots!

Brown eggs generally have more blood spots because of candling. Basically they shine a light through the eggs before they are packaged, so any ones with imperfections can be removed. White eggs are easier to see through so the ones with blood spots never make it to the store.

If the blood is on the surface, it can be removed with a bit of shell or maybe a tissue, and the egg can be used. Such blood spots are from the hen, not from a developing chick. Many people throw out the whole egg but it’s not necessary. After the first two or three I would try to remove the blood spots rather than chuck out so many.

Are you sure they are blood spots? Brown eggs are different than white eggs.

These were most likely protein spots, not blood spots. If you’re not sure how to identify blood spots, then you should ask before throwing away. So sad that 24 good eggs were wasted.
