I've gotten numbers of a few babysitters that came highly recommended. I went to check each of them out, and I honestly found them all to be "fakey". I have this extra sense, where I can figure out a person just from meeting them for a few minutes. I guess it goes hand in hand with my trust issues??
For example, today I met a babysitter, who I will definitely not send to, since I got this sense that she is in it only for the money and doesn't really care about the kids. But she came highly recommended by a few of my neighbors... Basically just a vent here...

is this your first time hiring a babysitter? Most people don't fall in love with one, they find one that is good enough and then try it out. Most babysitters are "in it for the money" and the money is usually barely enough to live on. I think if you treat the babysitter decently and don't take advantage or come home late then she will feel a certain loyalty but I also wouldn't go on a week's vacation right away. Good luck.

It’s like everything in life. You use other people’s input as a starting point but you don’t substitute your judgement and intuition for theirs. Also, different people can be happy with different things so that in and of itself isn’t a barometer of anything. Ask more specific, objective questions that would be more helpful than ‘do you like her?’
