I'm trying to find out what this tree is called, do you happen to know?
ETA: Oops, picture didn't paste. Anyone know how to include a picture?

There's a button for images, on the lower right hand corner of the text box when you make a post.
There are also many "identify this plant" apps, usually based around photos you take. If you have a smartphone, that would be an easy place to start

Thanks. I'm aware of that, but I don't have a smartphone

If you couldn't find an answer elsewhere on the web and can't post a photo, describe the tree.
What kind of leaves/needles?
Color and structure of bark?
Blossoms?
Fruits or cones?
Where does it grow, geographically (Alaska? California? NY?)
You can also type a description into google like, "small tree with feathery leaves and purple blossoms" and go to image search and look if what comes up looks similar to it.

No luck with google.
The tree is palm-like with a narrow scaly bark several inches in diameter and palm type leaves going both upwards and downwards. Leaves are shorter than typical palm leaves and stand relatively straight with minimal to no curve I.e. top leaves stand up, side leaves curve slightly and lower leaves face down. This often means the tree has an hourglass appearance.
How's that for a description?

I like your description but hope you can share a little more.
Where's your tree OP?
Are you in Israel? In the Negev? Galil? Yerushalayim?
USA? Florida? Arizona?
Australia?
South of France? Italy? Greece?
Any hints as to your (or tree's) location appreciated.
