Are you teaching boys/girls? Are you nervous abt teaching in general or shoftim specifically?

I remember we read it in the text and than in the end of every shofet the teacher had a song in hebrew ..so we remembered everything about that shofet bc of the song. also she kept the cycle on the board..

I know what song you're referring to....vayehi bemai shefot hashoftim......

But I can't see teaching that to high school.

OP the best teacher I ever had told us she wont ever give us a test on the material, as long as she sees the class is interactive, and paying attention as evidenced by a daily quiz, no longer than 3 questions, on the previous days material. If she saw that we overall were paying attention and learning, there would be no tests.

We loved the idea, paid attention, were involved in the learning (we didnt want tests!!)and it was the best year of learning I ever had.

I taught high school Shoftim and found the tapes of Rabbi Yitzchak Kirzner zl excellent and a tremendous help.
You can buy his tapes through rabbikirzner.org. Put "Judges" in the search box.

Choose a theme to focus on for each Shofet. And an overall theme for the year. PM me and I can give you some ideas.

Check out etzion.org. There's a very good series by Rabbi Michael Hattin.

I have to say that I was bored out of my mind by every class I ever had on Sefer Shoftim. I hope you have hatzlocha making it more interesting for your students.

Good luck!
