I had a baby and will be returning to work. I live in the five towns. The drop off babysitters are asking $8 an hour. I was shocked! The full time Spanish ladies want 500 a week for 9-5. I’m sure some do a fantastic job but It gets complicated with the kitchen. Someone approached me if I will share her Jewish lady with her and I’d have to pay $10 an hr. Where do you live? What are your childcare arrangements and what do u pay?

I live in the 5 Towns and pay someone $12/ hour at my house. Unfortunately, sharing for $10 an hour and drop off for $8/hr sound like numbers that I've heard recently.

The going rate in my area is $10 an hour. I don't think it's alot at all.
Btw, $500 a week 9-5 comes out to way more than $8 or $10 an hour.

In lakewood we pay 5$ or 5.50 an hour by a frum person with a group in the house. Some of them take 6 or more babies so it can be good money for them but the babies really done get proper care when there are too many babies.. others have a spanish lady or a jamaican live in that they can share with another person if they choose to.
Once the child is old enough to go to play group and not need babysitting anymore than the price goes down to $400 or 450 a month till the 3:00 range. That can be a group of 10 or more and possibly assistants etc ...

Its a 40 hr week and comes out to 12.5 an hr and they clean too! If u let them leave early on winter Fridays then it will come out a little more per hr.
The going rate for drop off is $10 an hr? Where do you live? And how many kids do these groups have.

I currently work 28 hrs a week and make 50k. Maybe I should quit and open a drop off babysitting service!

These are all so cheap. For me it’s either minimum 15 hour in the home for non full time. A live in is at least 600 a week. Daycare is like yeshiva tuition.

OOT, fulltime daycare at the JCC is about $1400/month for infants, slightly less for toddlers. The quality of care is great, hours are 7am to 6pm.

Licensed daycare. Full time. Just started a new one that’s a complete bargain at 1600$ a month. Previous daycare was 2200$ a month so I’m absolitely thrilled

12k a year for 2 kids plus 30k for household help and baby. Will become cheaper pretty soon when we can't afford and will have to drop.
