OOT with vouchers, $3600/year for one child in elementary school, not including beforecare ($100/month) and aftercare ($3K/year). We also have a preschooler and a toddler who cost us plenty for preschool and childcare, but I wouldn't call it tuition.

So with vouchers it's 760 a month over ten months for 1 kid?

1300 per month for three kids. Not sure how we will afford more as kids get older, family grows.....

have you spoken to the school to see if you can work something out?

If you're asking me, no I haven't. Hard to negotiate if you don't have a starting point. ("I can afford about $2.50 per month in tuition. Will that be acceptable?")

I've never done the math like that because we pay the school up front in one payment. But sounds approximately right. But I just corrected the tuition, it's actually $4250 after voucher, because there are a couple of fees, and I was a little off to begin with. I should also add that we pay for additional babysitting for that child because aftercare isn't long enough. But that's not really a tuition expense.

Baltimore--

5 kids ages 2-16 (2 year old in playgroup). Full tuition paid over 12 months (for real schools) instead of 10 months. A little over $4k a month. At 10 months it would be closer to $5k.

My salary pretty much covers tuition and my husband's covers all other expenses. Even with us both having good salaries, after full tuition and regular expenses, there is little left over.

How is tuition so cheap for many of you? In Brooklyn tuition is around 10,000 per kid.

Elementary? Unless it's MO schools, it's usually less in girls' schools, with scholarships (I think even without it usually starts below that)

2 kids in Elementary school (N and 3rd grade). Full tuition was in the 19k ball park for a year. After financial Aid it was down to 9k and then we qualified for a state scholarship bringing the total down to $5400.

I have a toddler going to part time play group (mostly to save money) and that is around $200 a month.

I have a kid with a lot of issues and it makes working full time for both of us to be almost impossible. He was in two schools at once last year. BH their school works with us. At the end of the day we can just barely afford it. Bli ayin hara my income goes up most years to cover it but its really hard. We do without so so many things that would make my life easier but yeshiva is important to us so we figure it out some how.
