mommy912, banks are usually closed saturday sunday, Bank holiday is on a MONDAY. and it is called a holiday in the real sense of the word (not the american sense of the word) which means time off from work.

by the by freilich the canadians have loonies not the americans LOL
Anyway it would be nicer in the UK now then it is in NY and Montreal they some times even have to go out with jackets because to cold. Can you imagine!

Besides isn't better to just have a bank holiday than to remember presidents day, labour day, martin luther king etc....????

I love bank holidays! May Day is a bank holiday too, that's the first Monday in May. Good FRiday is a bank holiday and Easter is too. X-mas is bank holiday as well, but if it falls on the weekend then everyone by law has to get two proper days holiday so they give us Monday and Tuesday off to boot. Yay! I love it for that reason...only when it falls on a Saturday and Sunday though.
Plus I get paid for not working on bank holidays and if I want more money I can volounteer to work a bank holiday which is 3 hours worth of working and guess what! I get double pay plus the pay I usually get!
I see the Hamburgese are full of confusiosity, but that's only to be expected.
Anyway, July4th is your soul holiday of the year??? I really feel for you.
We do have a bonfire night here too...Guy Fawkes...a day when all of Britain celebrates the killing of the Catholic plotters. Yay!

I find it interesting that the people in the exhibit are trying to act like monkeys/animals. If it's truly an exhibit on people why isn't it set up for a human habitat? very odd!

Another people -in-zoo exhibit. This one welcomes visitors, too.
