My mom had a rule that we don’t share toothbrushes, lick each other’s ice cream, sip from each other’s Cokes, or eat from each other’s plates, period.
Also we had to respect property rights and weren’t allowed to take anyone else’s stuff or beg them to give us some.
Your rule can be “You can’t drink from Mommy’s container ever.” Parents have rules that their children can’t sit in their seat, ever, why should this be any different? It’s not like you have the only mug in the house and everyone else has to do without.
Kids aren’t born knowing how to behave. Sometimes the teaching takes a while.
