I heard that you should say the Tehillim equivalent to the year the child is (not age)
So for my 13 year old who is in his 14th year I would say perek יד

And in between, say any that you know by heart. Hashem will listen to all of them. Hugs, and know that know tefilla goes unanswered or wasted. May you see obviously good answers, soon.

If it helps I know someone that was a very difficult child and then young adult, the family didn’t stop davening and they said tehilim for a few good years so this child will marry a suitable partner, at the end this child finally married and has a bunch of kids. The parter likes to say that they still enjoy all the davening that was done earlier
