How do the parent body, hashgafa and academics compare of these two schools? How big are they? Where do the boys go for high school?

YKLI is more elitist. They believe that they're a superior institution. Good for kids who fit in the box. Their concept of teaching dikduk and Hebrew vocabulary to have a good foundation in learning is admirable. In reality, it stops after 2nd grade. I do hear good things about Rabbi Kriegsman, who people say has improved things. It is not known for being a warm school. The parent body is cooler there. They have two parallel classes/grade. Unfortunately, South Shore's long time menahel Rabbi Hertzberg passed away. It is known as a warm school which is more accepting of different types of boys. It has a more laid back parent body - (less keeping up with the Schwartzes). They seem to take parent input more seriously. YKLI is a feeder school to Yeshiva of Far Rockaway HS, but graduates go to a variety of high schools. South Shore boys often go to DRS.

Agree with everything said exceptyeshuva if far Rockaway May have been a feeder school in the past but the past few years a lot of the boys from ykli have not gotten accepted (either all together or on round one of acceptances).

South Shore being the feeder school to MAY used to be true. Boys from South Shore still go to MAY, but the majority of the boys from my son"s South Shore class went to DRS, a few to Rambam , and even Chofetz Chayim. It is true that YKLI has less boys going to YFR than years ago. You will find YKLI boys at many of the same high schools as South Shore graduates (including MAY).
