This is life or death! Go to a legitimate licensed professional! This is not the time to experiment with this kind of person.

Tell me about it, mym husband (and his, mother) heard her on kol mevaser I think and she sounded like big, with hot lines and a bog staff.....
When I told him he has to make inqueries before because the wrong person can make it worse he doesn't want to listen.
So I'm trying to get more info here for om actual people who used her or have experience. If it's bad at least I'll have proof to stop him.
Without he claims I'm just paranoid...

This is playing with fire. I would sooner take out a second mortgage to pay for specialized treatment than go to a non professional. Please bring your dh with you to an appointment at the patient's doctor so the doctor can explain the risks of the wrong treatment for an ED. Refuah shelaima.

Exactly. Please don't play with fire and have the kid evaluated by a professional asap!

She was diagnosed yrs ago and is somewhat stable, meaning she eats, but not enough. Stays away from some foods, has issues they developed together or after she started restricting, so it's ED related.
She really needs a therapist which she refused to see or talk too.
That's why I'm so afraid of this unknown lady, she shouldn't make it worse or fall back ch"v
And I need testimonies to she DH, or he's just ignoring what I say,
He also has a habit of ignoring dr's if it suits him Banging head Banging head

Did anyone ever use her?

Hi,

Please call Devorah Levinson from Relief.
She has years of experience and expertise in guiding parents in this area.
She guided us to the right doctors and therapists and BH our child is leading a 100% normal life.
Eating disorders are one of the leading causes of deaths in teenagers.
Don’t call ‘organization’ or ‘experts’.
While they are well meaning and probably have only the best intentions they are not medically and psychologically trained in this field.

I called one of these so called organization at the beginning of our journey - the first thing they should have told me was to take my child to the doctor - not to wait 4 weeks for an appointment by their ‘expert’ rabbi.

BH I then called Relief and spoke to Devorah who immediately helped get me an appointment by an eating disorder specialist doctor as well as a psychologist who specialized in that area.
Please do not hesitate.

Here is her contact info.

If there was ever a time to put your foot down, this is it. Your daughter’s life is at stake. Do not let your husband and mother in law put her life in any more danger than it already is in.

So many hugs. I’m so happy for your daughter that she has you, a forward thinking woman, as her mom. Please stand up for yourself.

I’d divorce my husband over this. Eating disorders are not a guessing game. Anorexia nervous has the highest mortality rate of all other mental conditions.

Im not sure who mrs weider is and why she has eveyone up in arms lol but my sister had an eating disorder and the pediatrician sent my mom straight to relief resources. My DH didn't like the mehalech we went through then, even though she was almost ok.... Long story.

I took back my original post. Lots of sympathy and hoping you find the right shaliach for your dh and the patient. Maybe you should ask a shaila if you're obligated to follow your dh on this one.

As someone who has an eating disorder for 20yrs, (was never given any help so it never resolved) I implore you to do whatever it takes to get the best possible care for your child. The impact this condition has on my own (and dh and kids) life is enormous. Your daughter is lucky you are looking out for her. She needs the right resources so that she can lead the happy and healthy life she deserves. If only someone did that to me.....

Maybe call relief and explain the situation to them. It's possible that they know of people who started with Mrs wieder before contacting them. They can share stories with your dh (while protecting patient privacy obviously).

I don't know what you mean by "cannot stop him." This is genuine sakanas nefashos. Get a rav involved.

Two years ago, my teen daughter was experiencing worrisome symptoms ( mostly she was suddenly unable to sleep at night). I took her for a visit with the PA at her pediatrician's office, and she told me she is worried that my daughter might be developing a mood disorder. She recommended that we see a psychiatrist and speak to Relief for a recommendation.

I spoke to someone at relief, and she told me that based on what I was telling her she did not think we needed to see a psychiatrist, but she did recommend some therapists that might be able to help.

We started following up the therapists she recommended, all of whom had no immediate availability. In the meantime, DD's symptoms worsened, and we ended up with an emergency situation over Y"T, at which time DD finally saw a psychiatrist and was finally diagnosed with a mood disorder and got the help she needed. Had we gone to the psychiatrist sooner, DD might have been able to be on less medications than she is today. Maybe we would've been able to nip the situation in the bud, so to speak.

We ended up also getting into one of the recommended therapists too. B"H DD is doing well.

I still can't believe that I believed the words of a person from Relief over the words of a PA. I could eat myself up over this.

I do recommend that you you speak to Mrs. Levinson for a referral because she has the experience to refer you to specialists you need. However, DO NOT ASK FOR AN OPINION on your daughter's condition/diagnosis. People working at Relief, no matter how much experience they have, should never be offering an opinion on a diagnosis, especially one coming from someone with more training/schooling than they have.

And for sure, no Mrs. Anybody who has no proper qualifications and is advertising to make a few bucks. Run away fast!

OK, I tried to reword it slightly. However, I'm keeping my message there because I think it's important.

I have discussed this with therapists who have worked with DD, and they said that they have had situations where they did a full work-up on a client and recommended treatment, and then people call a referral organization including the one I mentioned and they get told that they don't think the child has that disorder..... These are people with referral experience, but no clinical training, and their opinion overrides that of a therapist or even a doctor with training. I feel that it's important and l'toeles that people know that a referring organization must be limited to referring, and that's all.

I want to emphasize that I appreciate the referrals.

And I can't fathom going to someone without training for something as serious as an eating disorder. What kind of training does this woman have? That's the question OP needs to be asking.
