How long is normal for a pillow to last? What's the best way to keep them clean and fresh? Is there an affordable brand that you recommend?

By a washable pillow protector - it’s lime another layer of pillowcase so that the pillow itself doesn’t get gross.

Eventually they get gross anyway but then you just change the pillow cover, which hides any stains underneath. Also if you use white pillowcases, a white pillow cover underneath makes them look whiter.
Pillows need to be washed now and then. Hot water to kill dust mites, gentle cycle. Machine dry feather or down pillows to fluff up.
If you fold it in half and it stays folded, time to replace.
I use synthetic fiberfill pillows and haven’t found designer brands to be better than anyone else’s. They all bunch up once they’re washed.
