Why do some cheders have a 'Pre' Kitah Aleph?

For kids that are still too young for kitteh alef. Like inbetween age. Depending on the cut off date they would decide to put younger kids in pre kitteh alef

Would a July kid attend pre kita aleph? Wud u know the usual cut off date?

I'm sorry I really don't know. Depends which cheder you're talking about. I have 1 Dec kid & 1 Feb kid & none of them went to pre kitteh alef. Ask your cheder. I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to tell you. Good luck

I think they stopped those mostly because kids end up getting older & older going into kita aleph and end up being older in older kita, where they are being bar mitzvah at a younger kita.
They used to have that option in some cheders for the boys that were in between age.

Chassidish cheders in brooklyn have this. its called Kittah mechinah and its instead of pre1a.

Many Monsey cheders have this. It's kitta mechina, like pre 1 a. The cheders that don't have pre nursery have kitta mechina.
