Since my dark laundry still smell after washing, I wonder if I don't put in the right amount of detergent.
I have a 6-8kg machine and live in soft water area.
I use non bio powder because of ezcema cases in my family.
So how much would you recommend?
Also better to put the powder in the drawer or drum?

Have you measured it according to the instructions? If it still smells, a rinse with vinegar may help.

I use fairy non bio and those instruction on the box are confusing.
Won't vinegar make them smell vinegary?

Run your machine without detergent and see how much in the way of bubbles it produces. A smell is likely due to a buildup of detergent in the machine, something you can easily tell if the machine creates lots of bubbles with no detergent added. Run an empty load or a few towels through, no detergent, vinegar can help (to strip the excess soap residue). You can wash the towels again later to get rid of any vinegar smell. The point is to rinse out all the detergent buildup.
Also check your machine's filter (be warned, it's a disgusting process). The gunk that collects in there stinks so if you haven't cleaned it out for a while, it could be causing your smell.
Otherwise, to answer your original question, use about a third of a cup of powder for a full load (many 8kg machines call for half a cup, but that's really more than necessary) , into the designated drawer.
