Because you loved me by Celine Dion
I used to sing this song and have in mind that I’m singing it to Hashem and it was only because of his love that I got through when I was physically sick for over a year in high school and I was going through really difficult emotional stuff at home. That song always gave me strength and I usually tear up when I sing it.

The words of this song are absolutely beautiful!

lots of Leonard Cohen songs but especially Anthem

If you're doing Leonard Cohen this time of year, you gotta go for You Want it Darker
Quote:

If you are the dealer, let me out of the game
If you are the healer, I'm broken and lame
If thine is the glory, mine must be the shame
You want it darker
Hineni, hineni
Hineni, hineni
I'm ready, my lord
Hineni
Hineni, hineni

Anybody ever here the song "Cats in the Cradle"? It's about a father who had no time for his son, and then when father retired, the son had no time for the father.
Hear the song on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7OqwKfgLaeA

You don't have to be a star baby to be in my show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nb9jJg_wIU

You are the Wind beneath my wings

Harry Chapin. The saddest part of that song is that he died before his children grew up.

But my favorite Chapin song is A Better Place to Be.

Or 50,000 Pounds of Bananas. Very Happy

I mostly only listen to female singers. It’s a Hangup of mine. But I made an exception for “broken girl”
Otherwise I have so many favorites I can’t list them all
Most are by
Celine dion
Carrie Underwood
Demi lovato

My mother used to sing an old song that was recorded by Harry Belafonte, among others, called Scarlet Ribbons. That, and Send in the Clowns get me every time. Ugly crying.

Hannah Montana-Make Some Noise.
But it is possibly more circumstantial than the actual song.

There's something to " My heart will go on", by Celine Dion that stirs something deep inside me, I listen to it a few times in a row, and I feel so warm and safe, don't even know why, it's just a song I love.
"Tell me why", is another fave.

Edited to add; Honeymoon, I see we have similar taste in songs.

Do you mean John Lennon's Tell Me Why?

So strange that I missed Leonard Cohen growing up.

If I wanted to play, there are a lot of songs.. I'll start with Day is Done, Peter, Paul, and Mary.

I know these are more popular, but I am not great at discovering new music on my own.

That’s why I started this thread, so we can share music we may not have heard before.

Who’s interested in a thread where the first poster shares a link to one song, and then the next poster has to listen to it, share a brief response and then a link to a different song?

I couldn't open the link but googled. I think I have to do some brainwashing now. As in, scour my brain to remove all traces of the info you're referring to.

Omg. I’m crying just reading some of the titles.
“I’m already there” makes me cry before the song even comes on. So does “here comes goodbye.”

“Riser” makes me cry but in a good way. It inspires me to keep trying.

Looks like we have the same taste in music.

I’m going to put on riser right now. I’ve been having a difficult few days.

Hotel California, Eagles

love every song on that album, but need to be in a specific mood to listen to it. There's always the classic Who by Fire. Leonard Cohen is one of the few musicians both my husband and I enjoy so there's a lot of that on car trips.
