no sleepless- the OTHER thread is about pashkevilin. & this one is deteriorating into being about edith, b/c some posters think she talks to herself. not a good way to start here to be sure. I'd be running to change my screen name.

I'd be running to register anew.

Everyone knows it's useless to change screen names Twisted Evil Too easy to figure out who it is (was).

actually I was thinking that as I was posting- all your posts change to your new name. it's just not good to be infamous from the second you start your post count. it becomes very unpleasant to be here.

if I was only here to keep myself company- I'd find something else to do. I'm here b/c I like the "company", I'd venture that others think similarly as well.

Somehow the name "Edith" seems to evoke the image of a white wispy haired plump matron sitting on her front porch with her knitting needles, ranting about the evils of today's young generation. no?

Edith makes me think of Edith Piaf, the French singer of torch songs who must have weighed 80 lbs. soaking wet and had a life as unhappy as her songs.

Bellow "EEEED-it", though, and you get Edith Bunker: matronly, husband-pecked, squeaky-voiced, outwardly ditsy and inwardly wise.

pick one. it's a free country. you have a right to pronounce it anyway you want without anyone making fun of you.

I've been thinking of Ediths, as well.

Edith Piaf. Poor little sparrow.

Edie Sedgwick, with whom I was fascinated many years ago when Jean Stein's bio came out.

Edith Bunker, as well.

Edith Wharton. Age of Innocence is great. Ethan Frome made me want to kill myself.

That's it for the Ediths, except for little Edie Rosenstein from summer camp who was this funny, wild little flower child. She once wrote me a letter entirely in her own personal hieroglyphics. The only actual English was "love Edie."
