over the years I have tried three different types of round techniques.. the 4 strand, the six strand, the making balls and put tin round pan..

They always look awesome before baking and then they turn into just one round challah without the visual of the different over lapping strands. I am using my challah recipe that works for normal braids- what am I doing wrong and are there other techniques out there?

Do you let them rise too long?

Maybe try rolling each strand in flour before braiding.

I make balls and place in round pans. Not braids but you can see each bump clearly.

I use six strands - place 3 vertically and then 3 across in the center, weaving up and down. I then braid the 3 sides sticking out on all four sides and tuck it under the weaves portion.

Comes out beautiful- like a crown.

ETA: I see that it’s the same method as in the video link in the OP....

When you weave, leave some space between the strands.

Does it taste delicious?
If so, I volunteer to eat them if they come out as plain undefined round.

I tried all of the suggestions- they helped a little. Today I tried a different method. I made a three braid straight challah . Then I attached the two ends to make a circle. Then I put a just a ball of dough in the center and put it in a round pan. It came out pretty nice.
