Teachers, do I really need to go to back to school night?

I always go because I enjoy doing so, but OP has a very valid point. That is why in my daughter's school, they do not have back-to-school night for 10th-12th grades. 9th grade is important, but afterwards, I really do not think it is necessary.

In a small town, I find it a waste of time. I felt bad not going because my dd is one of 3 girls in her class. I know the girls, the mothers and the teachers. I happenend to have previous plans so didn't go. When I saw the teacher a couple weeks later I told her I felt bad as I had no idea if the other parents showed up. She told me it was fine and she would prefer not to have it too.

Oh, and one year when I did go-the teacher forgot to show up!

This is elementary school. For HS, same thing goes usually.
