I currently make 45 and I hope to make around 200. I’d like to go into private practice . LCSW with a specific focus / specialty.

I made 90 and was so unhappy with the job so I cut down to 40 for a job I love.

Would you take insurance? If so, would it still be $200?

If she took insurance she would not be reimbursed $200 for a session. One of the many reasons therapists often don’t take insurance.

Sounds nice, but most frum families can't afford a full 50% pay cut.
What about, you know, food and tuition?

Is it usual for lcsw's in private practice to charge $200 cash, no insurance? I'm asking out of curiosity because I really don't know this area

What about, you know, her husband? Isn't he supposed to be the main breadwinner? $40 an hour is still very nice and a lot lot more than most women I know make.

I would not take insurance. (In order to take insurance I need an R besides for my LCSW which requires an additional 3 years of clinical work under supervision and I get much less pay. Although, most therapists taking that rate already gave those 3 extra years of clinical experience. )
To clarify, this is what my eventual goal is. To be completely booked in private practice. I don’t know if I’ll make it there, but I hope to.

Yes.
The standard is 180-250. The field I would like to specialize in (addictions) can be more.

Interesting, I didn't know what R is so I just googled it. Thanks for explaining. It sounds like you get paid less for having the extra credential? In any case I wish you hatzlocha

I had assumed one would need a doctorate level degree for those rates, seems I was very wrong

At the moment I'm happy with it, but it has the potential to rise.

71-150 depending on the particular work I'm doing. However, I only get paid for billable hours and for various reasons it isn't a lot. I make less than 50k a year.
