If Americans had to deal with something so regularly, there would probably be a similar (but nowhere near as funny. We are stiff-necked and funny people).
This is how President Lincoln coped. He famously said, "I laugh to keep from crying."

How ironic...the play he attended when he was assassinated was a comedy.
