Does anyone know someone HONEST on 47th Street who will give me a good price on jewelry that I need to sell?

Do you need to sell it right away? If you can wait, you might consider putting it into an auction.

I am not sure I understand the question. Right away as in tomorrow morning or right away as in within the next couple of weeks?

Right away as in before an auction house has a scheduled sale.

These are nice pieces but not on a level that Sotheby''s et al would be interested.

I would run it by these people. They deal in a wide range of prices.

Also, you could contact Haniken Jewelers at 66 W. 47th Street. Not frum, but I think they're worth talking to. Been around a long time.

Hatzlacha.

If it is urgent, you can sell it for the scrap price of the metal. Diamonds under one carat are worthless and no one is interested because they are too hard to verify.

If you can be a bit more patient, find a store that does consignment. I put my jewelry up for consignment, and I was surprised at how quickly it got snapped up, and I got a much higher amount of money than if I had just scrapped it.

Some stores will buy jewelry if it is in style and in perfect shape, but those stores are extremely hard to find. It costs them to buy inventory outright, and then have to wait for a buyer. It's a very difficult way to manage cash flow.

Friends of mine got a price from a Jeweler and then sold it for more money privately.

What types of pieces are you selling. You could PM me if you like. I may know someone interested in buying the pieces.

Also, Ross and Simon has a large selection of jewelry that they resell.

Be careful of consignment shops and rules

I was also told to be careful of stores that buy low so they can make more of a profit. That's exactly why I was asking for a personal recommendation of the name of place that someone has used and was happy with.
