I'm having company this Shabbos, and would like to bake a large one-pan cake. I reviewed many old threads, but most cakes were either Bundt- sized, or too elaborate.

I just need to have a stock of ready sliced up simple cake, like browny, marble, pound, sponge... Something like that.

If you have a recipe for a nice cake that is at least as large as a 10x16 pan, please post it.

Thank you!

Marble cake - very moist (adapted from Hersheys Perfectly Chocolate Cake)

3 Cups sugar
3 1/3 Cups flour
2 1/2 tsp baking powder
2 tsp baking soda (I sometimes use less since one of kids says she can taste it, but she also tastes
the soda in cookies)
1 1/2 tsp salt (I skip)
Sift together.
Then add:
3 eggs
3/4 cup oil
1 1/2 cups orange juice
3 tsp vanilla
Mix.
Add 1 1/2 cups boiling water
Mix. Batter will be very thin.

Spray 10x15" pan. Pour in most of batter (leave about 1/2 - 1 cup)

Add cocoa (maybe 1/3 cup) to remaining batter. Mix well.
Pour onto batter in pan. Marble gently with fork. (The batter is really thin so if you're not careful it can mix completely into the batter resulting in a light cocoa cake. It's delicious like that, anyway.)

Bake at 350 until toothpick comes out clean. Maybe 40 minutes.

You can make a crumb topping with flour, sugar, and oil and sprinkle over the batter before baking.

There’s a recipe that I’ve made called sprinkle bars that is made in that size pan. They aren’t thick and fluffy, but it makes a lot. I can post it if you want.

I would just one and a half a 9x13 recipe.
