It's so annoying. When my husband leaves early to shul my kids wake up because they hear the floor creaking. Could something be done?

They need to be nailed down better with a hammer and nails. Not sure if it's a covered floor or exposed...

If you have hardwood, it may not be a case of nailing down the hardwood boards. It's a question of pulling up the hardwood and nailing down the subfloor, which is a bigger deal to do.

Try sifting some talcum powder between the slats. At best this will be a temporary fix. To really fix it is a big job that involves taking up the floorboards and either replacing them
if they’re out of whack or, worse, realigning or replacing the offending joists.

You can fix them from underneath.

Option one rip out the floor
Option two put a rug over it
Option 3 sleep with a noise machine
