what is a safe, quick way to defrost chicken without a microwave?!

not sure- I do this if I have chicken pieces stuck together. it only takes a few minutes for them to defrost enough to pull them apart. once they're pulled apart, I bake them- even if they're still semi-frozen!

try it... see what they're like after about 10 minutes... they may be defrosted enough to clean... if not put it back under the water

I let it sit in warm water, goes quicker.
just keep changing the water to keep it warm.

Warm water can be dangerous because of salmonella. Also, the chicken starts to cook a little. I use cold water, but it takes quite a while - at least half an hour.

I laso find it easier to clean the chicken when it is semi frozen, frozen enough that my knife can scrape it, like hwen it is still a little frozen

Place the chicken in a bowl with COLD WATER covering it and let it sit.
