Since we seem to be talking about Purim already....

The past several years, I have been giving mini-trifles (a trifle made in a clear plastic disposable container - the size that would hold one portion of soup) - and they are a HUGE hit. I've stuck with the same old thing year after year b/c everyone loves them and asks for them if I make something else.

I just recently started making homemade kokosh. I usually just shtup on "another thing" with the trifle - the ikkar is the trifle... but I was thinking of giving a small kokosh along with it this year...and that maybe I should send with it a poem tying it in to Purim - with all the layers of meaning in the Megillah...but I couldn't come up with anything.

Also, I'll get my sheitel and dd's hair layered right before Purim - ok, ok - just joking!

But can anyone help me come up with a poem?

trIfles - not trUffles! greeny, you're the one who's Drunken Smile !
But what else is new? Wink Mr. Green

I meant the layers of meaning, how everything in the Purim story is deeper than it seems on the surface, the hiddenness of the miracle, Esther->hester panim, etc., etc......

chag purim sameach -
shalach monos in ur hand
it may appear as kokosh
but theres more 2 understand

just as cake has layers
and can slowly b unpeeled
so the tale of purim
holds so much 2 b revealed

the words of the megilla scroll
r there 2 b uncovered
their mysteries and miracles
waiting 2 b discoverd

so listen well, enjoy the chag
eat lots and drink lchaim
(and dont 4get 2 marvel at
the wisdom of Shamayim)

TY! Very Happy

I make the trifles in clear, disposable, qt-sized containers. I layer chocolate cake (any basic recipe), "chocolate mousse" (whip 1 c. Rich's whip together with 2 tbsp. cocoa pwder + 1 tbsp. sugar), choc. sprinkes, Rich's whip (whipped), repeat, garnish with sprinkles on top.

I don't know if I'll have time to write up the kokosh - it's a long recipe - but I got it from a Binah magazine (from a LONG time ago). I try to roll the dough as thin as possible, and I put twice as much filling as she calls for!

Ima'la,
The trifels sound YUM!!!
Do the containers come with covers?
How do you deliver them without them spilling?
Also, do they need to be refrigerated? and, how much in advance do you make them? Does it have to be the same day?

P.S. Techi - I'm impressed!!

I make the trifles in regular pint-sized plastic containers with covers. I fill them to the top, so nothing happens to them if they get bumped around a bit. I made mine about a month ago and they're waiting in a plastic garbage bag in my freezer (I have a very big freezer). I've done that before and they tasted perfectly fine on Purim - we ate one of the extras. They need to be refrigerated, but they're ok if they sit outside someone's door for a few hours, because it isn't real mousse with eggs - just Rich's whip.
