I'm looking for a gown for my SIL's wedding. I see a bunch of them that either have sweetheart necklines or have V's in the back. I won't wear either one. Is there any way to correct them so that it's not so visible that it's been corrected (not with just wearing a shell)?

Here are a couple of the gowns I was looking at:

A good seamstress should be able to build up a non tznius gown. What I have done in the past is buy 2 of the same gown (on sale) so that the material matches exactly. I've done it and seen it done well - with a different style, but I would imagine that it can also be done with these dresses.

Your first link is sheer. Just line it
Your second is a no go imo. Sometimes if it's long you can cut and use material to build up but you can't work with that chiffon.
My advice find something that requires less work

The Nordstroms gown may look very nice with a 3/4 sleeve black cropped shell. It depends on your body, but it may work perfectly.

I will agree with trixx. The first, a navy Kiki Riki, if you match the color, neckline, and sleeves, (I have had seamstress alter necks and sleeves to match up, it is easy and not a major expense)will be undetectable and perfect. The second, with the low cut back, you would need to buy a second dress and have a seamstress to MAJOR work.

Do you need Navy? What is your price range? I might have time to do a bit of online shopping for you Smile

Yes, I need navy. I tend to look best in A-line (but I thought that the non-A-line gown there might actually look good on me). Size 8. Petite figure.

Price range? As inexpensive as possible. Max $175 if I love it but preferably a lot lower.

Thanks!

Sometimes the sheer ones are too skin tight and there's no room to breathe to add a lining. The illusion sheer gowns can be even harder to work with.

Thanks so much for taking the time!

I don't like ordering from stylewe and shein since I've had bad experiences in the past.

The Adrianna Papell one is not available in my size, and I don't want to alter it SO much.

The Ralph Lauren one wouldn't look good on my body type - I have too much weight in my mid/lower body Sad

I'm not comfortable with the small cutout in front of the SL Fashion one.

I'm sorry - I don't want to reject everything - just trying to give you an idea of what I am looking for! Don't drive yourself crazy; I've already done a lot of Googling myself, and the second one I posted was my favorite one so far... it's a shame that it has that V in the back!

I once bought a gown that came with a sweetheart lining and cups, but I was able to easily remove the lining and then just wear it with a shell so you could see the detail.

I wouldn't want any sort of sweetheart lining to be detectable, which it probably still would if I added a lining, even if it was doable.

Are there other gowns that have an easily removable sweetheart lining as opposed to a full sweetheart neckline?

How long is your sheitel? Ideally, you would want to replace the entire back of the top, making it one solid piece. But if you're wearing a long sheitel that will cover most of it, it could be filled in with something imperfect, since it won't show.

The sleeves, OTOH, are an issue.

That one looks nice. Do you think closing the slit will make it hard to walk? I find that with a lot of slits.

The second one might be. Going to think about which one to order.
