WOW, Louche, where is the tipping-my-hat emoticon??? (that's not part of the game - just saying WOW!)
I think you ought to be proud that you have stunned everyone into silence! Do me a favor, will you, and share your secret for how you sewed together so many puns? (There are three of 'em in there for you...)

OK. For those who are just beginning in this game, do not be afraid! It doesn't have to be complicated (but that's fun, too).
Just think of a Hebrew word and an English word or phrase that sounds like it, and use the translation of the Hebrew word and the English sound-alike in a sentence together. For example:
In every generation, a new door opens. (Dor = generation)
Sometimes you can "hide" the Hebrew word in between a few English words, like this one from Louche:
Quote: | Sara finally burned her old love letters.
|
Try it! It's fun.

You know that guy with the sidelocks who sings "Achas Shoalti" all the time? He acts pious, but he looks shifty to me. I'm sure he smokes hashish or peyote or something. |
OK, got 2.5 puns out of this.... were there more? (Achas and acts, maybe??)

First of all, I'm married to a guy named Yitzchak. Plus, I really try to live by the Ten Commandments, which state clearly "Lo Yihyu Lachem Elohim Acherim Al Punai."

Oh, did I forget to mention I'm also obsessive-compulsive and once I get going I can't stop till I drop?
Benny! Come on! koom shoyn! Time to get up, my son!
Who's Ma now has time to make challah?
Moses, what a man! Hid a body in the sand.
Mr. Bates, IMO, is an egghead.
Stay, man, I'm having Yemenite food for dinner.
his humor isn't dumb, it's wry. Impossible to know, but I think he gypped me.

But I would with "come" (missed that, did you?)
In any case, I come by it honestly. I AM a Litvak. The genuine article. And OUR Yiddish is the definitively correct one. Vehoraayoh: What's the greatest search engine in the world? Goooooooooooooooooooogle! (Not Geeeeeeeeeegle!)
I rest my case (in the china cabinet with the other wine cups).

Louche, your puns are clever! But for the benefit of those who are trying to get the hang of THIS game, I want to point out that some of your puns are really a different game... like this one:

You hid Egypt and mitzrayim in the same sentence, which is very cute... but isn't the "dog ate my pen" game, which uses the translation of the Hebrew word and the sound of it in the same sentence.
And I hear you about compulsively continuing with making up examples.... I went through that a few pages back and fear I am starting up again... although THIS post has none, so don't bother reading between the lines...

In case you need something to drink while you're walking the dog, put a water bottle in the leash tote.
