My DH just finished a bootcamp in software engineering. He already had prior self-learned coding knowledge. He's well-versed in JavaScript, React, Redux, Node, Java, MySQL, and Postgres. He also learns new languages very quickly.

Anyone here works or has a family member who works for a company in Brooklyn or Manhattan that's hiring?

AMEX is hiring service assurance engineers. Go on their careers website. You can pm me if u have questions. He can also sign up for Robert half and work as a contractor.

ETA: AMEX might require a bachelor's. Doesnt particularly have to be a compsci one.

Thanks for your reply!

His program is actually having a career fair in a couple of weeks, and AMEX is sending people there. He's interested in working for them. (If they're coming to this career fair, obviously they're okay with people who don't have a bachelor's. He does have a BTL, but I doubt that would count.)

He may still go for a bachelor's online just to have the degree, but he has better technical skills than most graduates with a computer science degree. (He took a BlindData challenge online and came out with skills on the level of the average MIT graduate.)

BTL Does count in a lot of cases! I know many people who have gotten very far with it!

Does it count on its own as having a "bachelor's," though, if that's what a particular job requires?
