Lol ok I hear you. Can you suggest another 1-word description I can use in my subject line? I'll edit it.

understated, unostentatious, unpretentious.
"Straightforward" conveys more of a sense of honesty and plain speaking than a horror of ornamentation, while "unsophisticated" carries a hint of disdain. (Besides, simplicity done right can be the height of elegant sophistication.)

Please don’t call people “simple” as that is generally understood as “simpleminded” or not too bright. Rather say they prefer simple things or live a simple lifestyle.

That’s being very nit picky. Don’t you think?
I knew immediately what type of person OP was referring to

A set of linen? A tablecloth? certificate to a photographer to take pics of her kids?

Maybe she does enjoy nice things but can't afford them

Love these ideas! Betty Crocker pizza maker and large pot are also nice ideas.

I understand what you're saying but I think in the context of gift-giving, it was pretty clear which definition of simple the OP had in mind.

I'm here in Crown Heights and the sourdough bread sold here can be great as a gift.

I don't know where to buy it in Monsey but here in Crown Heights, people are going crazy over it and can't stop eating it. Anyone would appreciate it as a gift.
