I’m leaving for Israel tomorrow and I see there’ll be lots of rain. Should I pack my big, chunky rain boots? Or any other suggestions? Don’t want my walking shoes to get wet.

I don’t want to wear bulky boots on a 10 hour flight

Are your big chunky rain boots more comfortable to walk in?

Yes but also not ideal. I have great sneakers and walking shoes, The sock sneaker type. I wish those were waterproof. My feet really need support when I walk/ hike. Otherwise they tire really fast. I just wasn’t prepared for it to rain so much. I’d be ok in my sneakers with just a regular rain. But from what I’ve heard there’s lots of flooding.

Rain boots are definitely a great thing to have during the winter in Israel. When it rains, it often comes down quickly and the streets flood.

You can wear the boots onto the plane and switch to something else on the plane.

This was actually my thought when I suggested wearing them to the airport. Done it plenty (I live in Israel). Also winter is our rainy season

Some rain booties are more comfortable than others. You can try on some new pairs tomorrow to see if any work for you.
Otherwise, wear the chunky boots to the airport and take them off once you're seated and wear a pair of anklets or ballet flats on the plane, as suggested.

I have this same question several years later. I'm hoping to go to Israel around January-February, iyh. I know when it rains the streets flood. My feet need support, plus I get cold and like to wear ugg type boots in the winter. Anybody know of a good supportive shoe or boot that is really waterproof?
