Keeping whatsapp when switching phones

I am trying to limit my smartphone use. I want to know if I can switch my phone number to a dumb phone and leave my smartphone with whatsapp on it to use occasionally via wifi, would it work?

Yes it should be fine. So long as you are on wifi.

Only if you don’t take your number with you to your new phone. If you keep the smart phone with it’s own phone number, it’ll work.
Actually, I think even if you take the phone number with you to your new phone but you don’t set up WhatsApp on it, it should work.
Key point is you can only have one phone number associated with each WhatsApp account (although you can also use that number on WhatsApp web on your computer)

I use a dumb phone but have a smartphone for whatsapp and certain apps that I use with Wi-Fi . I just load whatsapp with my dumb phone phone number.

It should work. U just need a phone with talk or text to sign up with. I am using Whatsapp right now with my regular number on a phone completely different phone number cuz I lost my phone.
