How is this justified?
Not that it needs to be.... But makes zero sense to me.

Most camps are for-profit businesses while most schools are not-for-profit orgs.

Camps compete against other camps for the most trips and other events.

Can you try a backyard camp run by HS girls?

We send our kids to town camps for part of the summer. It is cheap, fun and has great hours. Look outside of the core Jewish camps and you may find great options.

I have a different problem. I cant find a day camp with the same hours as school. I cant cut my work hours during the summer.
Its ridiculous that the day camps charge so much more and have a shorter day than school.

Day camps don't have donors to make up the discrepancy between tuition per child and actual total cost.

We are not Chabad, but we send to the local Chabad day camp. The rates are reasonable and they offer before-care and after-care that, together, cover a full work day. Our kids love the camp, even though it is very no-frills. I think mainly the counselors are very warm and fun and therefore the kids enjoy it.
