DS, 7, woke up a week ago with a nightmare. He claims things were getting “far away” and/or getting smaller. He has not brought this up again until tonight. He opened up and said that for the past week things have been getting “big and small”. He would look at one specific object (say, a clock) and he would notice that clock growing bigger and smaller. This would only happen to some of the objects in the room, but not to everything.
Not sure if it’s related, but he did then mention to me about seeing “legs” sprout out of the closet door a year ago, and that it frightened him.
As I have said, he has only spoken to me about this twice. Both times being at night. He says it happens during the day as well.
Any idea what this could be? I am totally clueless

Speak to a doctor. Would you call it a hallucination? Legs on a closet sounds worrisome.
It could be something concerning or it could be a vision problem.
Has he had his eyes checked?

He has had his eyes checked, but it was over a year ago. The legs on a closet thing was a year ago as well.
Now he’s speaking about certain objects appearing far or close...
it’s all very strange to me. I was hoping to get some insight

Rule out medical first, by going to your pediatrician and if not to an eye doctor because in a year a lot can change

If I was you I would go to the doctor to investigate if there could be something causing hallucinations. It could be as simple as getting a blood test for a vitamin deficiency or as complicated as needing to speak with a psychiatrist.
And also get his vision checked, specifically 3D vision.

1 more thing to add:
Has he ever taken tamiflu? It can cause hallucinations also.
